I spoke with Md. Taufiqul Haque Khan Tusar, an NLP & Backend Engineer at LaLoka Labs, a Tokyo-based technology company specializing in AI solutions and open-source projects. While his team is based in Japan, Taufiqul works remotely from Dhaka, Bangladesh, proving that talent knows no geographical boundaries.

LaLoka Labs LLC., which develops andoperates Kafkai , an AI content generation service and contributes to the open-source community. Taufiqul's role in this international setup demonstrates how remote jobs can successfully replace traditional office work, offering professionals:

Freedom to work from anywhere
Opportunities with global companies
Work-life balance without long commutes

He embraces the remote lifestyle working from home while staying connected through technology. Whether it’s writing or technical work like coding, his experience shows that with the right tools, anyone can work effectively from anywhere. He relies on AI-powered tools designed specifically for remote professionals, helping him work smarter and more efficiently every day.

1. Can you introduce yourself and your remote work setup?

"Hi, I’m Taufiqul, an NLP & Backend Engineer at LaLoka Labs, a Tokyo-based company. While my team is in Japan, I work remotely from my home in Dhaka, Bangladesh. My role involves developing AI-driven backend systems and natural language processing solutions, all while enjoying the flexibility of a location-independent lifestyle."

2. What inspired you to pursue remote work, and how has it impacted your career?

"I chose remote work primarily to eliminate exhausting commutes and reclaim time for focused work. Beyond convenience, it has expanded my career horizons, allowing me to collaborate with international teams I wouldn’t have access to in a traditional office role. Remote work isn’t just a perk; it’s a gateway to global opportunities."

3. How do you maintain productivity, and which AI tools do you rely on?

"I stay organized using our internal task manager and a time tracker to monitor my efficiency. For AI tools, Gemini (for email summaries) is a game-changer,it helps me quickly grasp long email threads or team discussions. These tools streamline communication, letting me focus on high-impact work instead of administrative overhead."

4. How do you handle connectivity challenges, especially while traveling?

"Reliable internet is non-negotiable. My team depends on chat apps for real-time collaboration, which works well from home. While traveling, I use my local SIM, and switch to roaming only during international trips. I'm currently exploring eSIMs for effortless network switching, which could be a game-changer for digital nomads like me"

5. How do you see remote work evolving with AI and eSIM technology?

"Remote work will soon be the default, not the exception. AI will further automate tasks like scheduling and documentation, while eSIMs will erase connectivity barriers. Together, they’ll empower professionals to work from anywhere without friction, making geography irrelevant to talent and innovation."

Human Connection in a Digital World: My Experience at LaLoka Labs

team

One of the things I deeply value about working at LaLoka Labs is the incredible company culture, it’s truly one of the best I’ve experienced. As a fully remote team, we’re spread across different regions, yet the company ensures we don’t miss out on real human connection. Through initiatives like our annual Engineering Team Camp, we get the opportunity to meet our colleagues face-to-face, work closely with teammates we haven’t met in person before, and build stronger bonds.

Beyond Work: Discovering the Countryside Together

One of the best parts of our Engineering Team Camp is the opportunity to explore the countryside after our day-to-day work. It offers a refreshing break from our screens and allows us to relax, recharge, and enjoy the local surroundings together.

These moments away from the computer help us connect on a personal level, sharing meals, conversations, and laughter outside the usual work setting. It’s during these informal experiences that we truly get to know one another as people, not just colleagues.

This is the beauty of remote work at LaLoka Labs: while we work from different parts of the world, team camps like this bring us together in person, helping us build meaningful relationships and create shared memories that strengthen our collaboration.

Final Thoughts: What I Learned from him

In my interview with Taufiqul, I learned some important things about working from home today. First, remote jobs aren’t just a quick fix, they are becoming a regular way of working for many people around the world. Working from home gives people more control over their time while still letting them do important work for companies, no matter where those companies are.

Second, working remotely can fit many kinds of jobs, like writing or programming. The secret is using the right tools, especially new tools that help people stay organized and talk to their team easily.

Most importantly, Taufiqul’s story shows that what really matters is the work you do, not where you do it. But the company you work for also makes a big difference. A good company culture, one that supports remote workers and helps people feel connected, is key to success.

More people are trying remote work, and more companies are supporting it. It’s clear that good work can happen anywhere, not just in an office.
